If you're already planning to play God of War Laufey, there's one date that matters today: September 29.
Santa Monica Studio has opened pre-orders for the new PS5 adventure at 10 a.m. local time, giving players several months to secure their copy ahead of its February 16, 2027 release.
More importantly, the studio has now detailed what comes with the pre-order bonus and Digital Deluxe Edition, while a new look at Faye's combat reveals how her Serpent Bow works alongside her melee attacks.
So if you're trying to decide whether to pre-order Laufey, which edition to buy, or simply want to understand how Faye actually plays, here's what you need to know.

What Do You Get for Pre-Ordering God of War Laufey?
Pre-ordering God of War Laufey gets you three bonus items:
- Last Wish Armor Set
- Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance
- In-game Resource Pack
The Phranque Golden Leaves item is a cosmetic appearance, while the resource pack provides additional resources for Faye's adventure.
Some of the bonus content may need to be unlocked through story progression.
For physical Standard Edition purchases, the bonus content is supplied as a download code. You'll need an internet connection and a PlayStation account to redeem it.
What's Included in the God of War Laufey Digital Deluxe Edition?
The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with additional equipment and digital extras on top of the base game.
It includes:
- Dark Alchemy Armor Set
- Dark Alchemy Blade
- Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
- Dark Alchemy Catalyst
- In-game Resource Pack
- Digital Mini Artbook
- Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack
The equipment isn't purely cosmetic. The different armor, Blade, Scales and Catalyst options are connected to Laufey's customization systems, giving players different ways to shape Faye's equipment.
Santa Monica Studio has not announced pricing for the Digital Deluxe Edition in the pre-order announcement, so that information will depend on the relevant PlayStation Store listing.

How Does Faye's Serpent Bow Work in God of War Laufey?
The Serpent Bow is one of the biggest differences between Faye and the previous protagonists we've followed in the series.
Rather than treating ranged combat as something completely separate from melee attacks, Laufey is designed around switching between the two.
The Serpent Bow can be used in two different aiming styles, with different arrow types and customizable Serpent Scales adding further options.
That means Faye's ranged attacks aren't simply about standing back and shooting enemies. They are designed to feed into the wider combat system.
