The Google NotebookLM has finally gotten a new upgrade, as Google has announced that the NotebookLM is now running on Gemini 1.5 Pro, an upgrade from the original Gemini Pro model, bringing a host of new features.

This comes after Google launched the NotebookLM last year for researchers, students, and anyone who needs to organize the information they’ve gathered.

Now, the NotebookLM accepts Google Slides and web URLs as sources from users in addition to Google Docs, PDFs, and text files it only accepted previously.

This makes it stand out because it only takes from the resources you provide rather than a plethora of general knowledge, unlike other AI tools like Perplexity.ai, which finds data from general sources.

Another fantastic feature is that users can now upload up to 50 sources per notebook to fact-check AI responses, which is a major improvement from the previous limit of five sources. Each of these sources can also be up to 500,000 words long.

Also, users can now ask questions about images, charts, and diagrams, along with including images in citations as further supporting evidence. All this is now made possible by the Gemini 1.5 Pro, the latest largest language model powering the NotebookLM.

Even though NotebookLM’s target audience remains researchers, students, and often writers, it can still be used for other minor use cases, such as campaign preparation. It is now available in over 200 countries and territories and supports over 100 languages.
