Arrowhead Game Studios marked Liberty Day on October 26 with the retro rifle, temporary Super Destroyer decorations, community minigames, and merchandise rewards. While the main celebration has ended, rifle eligibility depends on whether you logged in during the event.

/1. How to Get the Free AR-23L Liberator Legacy Rifle
If you returned to Helldivers 2 hoping to add the free rifle to your arsenal, the first thing to check is whether you played the game during the eligibility period.
The AR-23L Liberator Legacy was the headline reward for Liberty Day 2026. Inspired by weapons from the First Galactic War, it gives you a retro-looking alternative to the weapons you’re used to carrying into battle.
According to Arrowhead’s official announcement on the PlayStation Blog, players needed to have played Helldivers 2 since September 26, 2026, at 12:00 AM CET to qualify for the rifle.
The weapon was scheduled for distribution when Liberty Day ended at 11:59 PM CET on October 26. That deadline has now passed, so if you met the requirement, check your in-game arsenal to see whether the rifle has been added to your collection.
What if you missed the eligibility window? Unfortunately, Arrowhead’s announcement doesn’t confirm whether the rifle will become available through another reward event or a future in-game offer. You can’t assume that buying the game or logging in now will qualify you for this particular giveaway.
The good news is that the rifle wasn’t a separate store purchase. It was a celebration reward for eligible players, so you didn’t need to spend extra money to claim it.
/2. What Happened During Helldivers 2 Liberty Day 2026?
Liberty Day is Helldivers 2’s annual in-universe celebration, held every October 26. This year marked the event’s third edition, bringing back community activities and giving players a few extra reasons to spend time aboard their Super Destroyers.
The ships received a festive makeover, too. For 24 hours on October 26, you could spot Liberty Day banners, rugs, party supplies, and other decorations inside your ship.
If you were hoping to keep those decorations around after the celebration, there’s a catch: they were temporary, rather than permanent ship customisation options. With the event now over, you shouldn’t expect to find them available as an ongoing feature.
Arrowhead also brought back community minigames, giving players a way to take part in the festivities without relying entirely on the usual combat missions. Some activities took place through the game’s official Discord server, so you could join the community celebration even when you weren’t dropping into a mission.
/3. Helldivers 2 Liberty Day Minigames: What Could You Play?
Not every part of Liberty Day required you to fight Terminids or Automatons. Arrowhead highlighted four community activities, with three specifically restricted to the official Helldivers 2 Discord server.
Here’s what each one involved.
- Minidivers: This chat-based minigame challenged players to work together using emoji-based stratagem codes to stop incoming enemy waves. If you wanted a different way to contribute to the fight, this was your chance.
- Adopt-a-SEAF: Players could receive a virtual SEAF recruit, often called a blueberry, and look after them while sending them on missions.
- Oath of Enlistment: This activity let participants complete the process and receive a copy of their enlistment oath.
- Raise the Flag: Community members joined in through chat to salute together and raise the flag.
Minidivers, Oath of Enlistment, and Raise the Flag were identified as Discord-exclusive activities. Adopt-a-SEAF was also part of the community offerings surrounding the celebration.
