How to Turn Off Blue Light on Your iPhone
Reduce eye strain and sleep better by turning on Night Shift on your iPhone.
I used to think that my iPhone's screen was just naturally bright and crisp—until I started noticing how weird I felt after late-night scrolling. Even with dark mode on, my eyes would feel strained, and falling asleep took longer than it should. That's when I learned about blue light and how it can mess with your sleep by suppressing melatonin production.
Thankfully, Apple has a built-in feature called Night Shift that helps reduce blue light exposure. Night Shift is a feature on iPhones that adjusts your screen's colors to warmer tones, reducing the amount of blue light emitted.
While it doesn't eliminate blue light entirely, it can help minimize eye strain and improve sleep quality. Here's how to turn on this feature and inadvertently turn off blue light on your iPhone.
Steps to Turn Off Blue Light on an iPhone via Control Center
Step 1: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open the Control Center. On iPhone 8 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen

Step 2: Press and hold the Brightness control

Step 3: Tap the Night Shift icon to activate it. And your screen color will adjust to a warmer tone

Steps to Turn Off Blue Light on an iPhone Through Settings
Step 1: Open your iPhone Settings and select "Display & Brightness"

Step 2: Select "Night Shift"

Step 3: Toggle on the "Manually Enable Until Tomorrow" option to enable Night Shift until the next day. Or select "Scheduled" to turn on automatically from sunset to sunrise, or set custom times

Conclusion
Since I started using Night Shift, my evening screen time feels less taxing on my eyes, and winding down for sleep has become easier. Whether you work late, read on your phone in bed, or just enjoy some evening browsing, turning on Night Shift creates a gentler visual experience.
It’s easy to set up, and once you do, you don’t have to think about it again. It just works in the background, helping you ease into rest mode without your screen fighting you. Give it a shot—you’ll feel the difference.
