Is Xbox Down Right Now? Error 0x87e107df Update

Xbox is causing trouble for a lot of players right now. Downdetector has logged more than 3,200 reports for Xbox Network, still widely known as Xbox Live, since around 11:38 PM ET. Many of the reports describe the same problem: games that won't launch or download, tied to error code 0x87e107df.

As of this writing, Microsoft's official Xbox Status page lists every service as operational, with no outage acknowledged. There's a clear mismatch between what players are reporting and what Xbox's status page shows.

Whether this counts as a full outage isn't settled yet. A Downdetector spike shows more people hitting a problem right now. It doesn't prove every player is affected, and it doesn't prove Microsoft's systems are down broadly rather than one licensing server acting up.

Why are Xbox servers down right now?

The error is tied to license verification. When you open a game, the console checks with Microsoft's servers to confirm you own it. If that check doesn't get an answer in time, the game won't launch, whether it's a Game Pass title or something you bought outright.
