A premium plan for two
Finally, a YouTube and chill moment for couples.
YouTube’s finally admitting that couples exist and not every shared account is a six-person “family.” Now, instead of subscribing to a six-person “family” plan, there's a new two-person premium plan being tested in select countries.
It’s full-featured, unlike the “Lite” version they’ve floated before – full perks, no ads, background play, offline viewing, the whole deal, just made for two. Like Spotify Duo, but for your YouTube rabbit holes.
It also hits the sweet spot between the solo and family pricing. Logical and long overdue. But let’s be real. This isn’t just goodwill. YouTube made over $36 billion in ad revenue last year. They know there’s money to be made in all the gaps between “one” and “family.” But hey, if it saves you money and gives you full features, why not?
Although it’s not global yet, it’s a start. Would you actually pay for this? Or are you still hanging on to your ex’s family plan? 😜
