Indian AirPods fans have something special to look forward to this Diwali. Apple has launched an India-exclusive, limited-edition AirPods 5, featuring a rangoli-inspired engraving on the charging case.
It costs ₹17,900 (around $187), the same as the regular AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case.
With Diwali falling on November 8, 2026, you might be considering it as a gift for someone who loves Apple products. But is the festive design worth paying for, and are there better alternatives for the same budget?
The answer depends on what the recipient values: a distinctive design, everyday audio features, or the best value for money.

What You Get
The Special Edition AirPods 5 features a rangoli-inspired engraving on the charging case, with a decorative pattern arranged around a heart-eyes emoji.
Beyond the engraving, it has the same features as the standard AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case. These include Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive Audio, Transparency mode, personalised spatial audio and Live Translation when paired with a compatible iPhone.

Apple also claims up to five hours of listening time on a single charge with Active Noise Cancellation enabled, while the wireless charging case provides up to 22 hours of battery life.
In other words, you're paying for a festive design rather than additional audio features. If the recipient already likes AirPods, that could make the gift feel more personal without increasing the price.
Price and Availability
The Special Edition AirPods 5 cost ₹17,900 (around $187) in India. Apple also lists monthly payments starting at ₹1,533 (around $16) with eligible instant cashback and EMI offers.
Sales began on October 11 and run until November 11, 2026, while stocks last. You can order through Apple's online store or the Apple Store app, or visit one of its six retail locations in India: BKC, Borivali, Saket, Noida, Hebbal and Koregaon Park.
But Apple limits purchases to two pairs per customer. There are also a couple of conditions to consider. The Special Edition cannot be combined with other AirPods offers and is excluded from Business, Education, and Corporate Employee Purchase Plan pricing.
There's also a repair caveat: if the earbuds or charging case need to be replaced, Apple may provide the standard edition instead, depending on availability. That means the recipient could lose the distinctive engraving if they need a replacement.
What Else Apple Is Offering
Apple's festive campaign runs from October 11 to November 11, 2026, with offers across selected products.
These include:
- Up to 12 months of No-Cost EMI on selected iPhone, Mac, and iPad models.
- Up to ₹15,000 in instant cashback on selected products with eligible cards. The advertised cashback for AirPods 5 is up to ₹1,000.
- No-cost EMI on Apple Watch, AirPods, and accessories for eligible three- and six-month tenures.
- Free engraving on eligible products.
- Trade-in credit of ₹4,500 to ₹81,500 for eligible smartphones.
- Three months of Apple Music free with eligible device purchases.
Apple is also hosting free rangoli workshops with artist Arushi Kathuria, where participants can create digital rangoli designs using Procreate on iPad and Apple Pencil. Sessions run from October 14 to November 9 in India and at selected locations in the US, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore.
Are There Better Alternatives at ₹17,900?
The regular AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case costs ₹17,900, the same as the Special Edition, but without the festive engraving.
Other brand options include:
- Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which costs around ₹14,700 to ₹17,999 ($153 to $189) and offers active noise cancellation and works particularly well with Samsung phones.
- Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are priced around ₹9,999 to ₹16,900 ($104 to $177) and are worth considering if noise cancellation is your priority.
- The Nothing Ear (2024) is another option, with customisable sound and active noise cancellation at a lower price of around ₹7,999 to ₹14,999 ($83 to $156)
