Big batteries are becoming a selling point for budget smartphones, particularly in markets where people spend long hours away from a power outlet.
Vivo is leaning into that demand with its new Y32 5G, a phone built around an unusually large 8,000mAh battery and a set of durability claims more at home on a rugged handset. It also comes with 5G, a 120Hz display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.
The Y32 5G debuted on Vivo Taiwan’s website in early November, and according to 91mobiles, it’s now official in Nepal from NPR 39,999 (about $295). Vivo hasn’t confirmed an India launch or price, which leaves one important question for Indian buyers: how much will all that battery life cost?

What the Vivo Y32 5G offers
The 8,000mAh battery (7,800mAh rated) is the headline feature. That’s a substantial capacity for a mainstream phone, and Vivo claims it can deliver up to 37 hours of local video playback. When it runs low, 44W fast charging is available, and 7.5W reverse charging lets the phone top up other devices.
Vivo also says the battery keeps more than 80% of its original capacity after 1,500 charging cycles. If that holds up in long-term use, it could appeal to people who keep their phones for several years.

The display is a 6.87-inch HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness, and TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification.
Performance comes from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a 4nm chipset designed for entry-level 5G phones. The model announced so far pairs it with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, expandable via microSD by up to 2TB. It runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16.
On the back, there’s a 50MP main camera and a 2MP auxiliary lens, with an 8MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
Built to take a few knocks
The battery isn’t the only thing Vivo wants buyers to notice. The Y32 5G carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H certification and an SGS five-star drop-resistance rating.
IP68 covers protection against dust and immersion in water under specified test conditions, while IP69 covers resistance to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. MIL-STD-810H is a US military testing standard for how equipment holds up under environmental stress.

Together, these suggest the Y32 5G is built for tougher conditions than the average budget handset. That’s useful for people who work outdoors, travel often, or just want a phone that survives everyday accidents.
Still, certifications have limits. MIL-STD-810H doesn’t make a phone indestructible, and water resistance can weaken with wear and damage over time. The real test will come when reviewers and users put it through daily use.
Where the Y32 5G makes compromises
Vivo’s priorities become clearer when you look at what it didn’t spend money on.
The HD+ display is a noticeable compromise on a 6.87-inch screen. It won’t look as sharp as Full HD+ rivals, even if 120Hz keeps scrolling smooth. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 will handle messaging, browsing, streaming, and light gaming, but it isn’t built for demanding games or heavy multitasking. The cameras are basic too: the 2MP auxiliary lens adds little, and an 8MP front camera is ordinary by today’s standards.

It’s also heavy. At around 229g, the Y32 5G will take some getting used to if you’re coming from a slimmer phone.
Finally, software support is unclear. The Y32 5G ships with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16, even though Android 17-based OriginOS 7 is already out, and Vivo hasn’t said how many major Android updates it will receive. That matters if you plan to keep it for years.
India launch, pricing, and competition
Vivo hasn’t confirmed an India launch date or price for the Y32 5G.
In Nepal, 91mobiles reports three variants: 4GB/128GB at NPR 39,999 (about $295), 6GB/128GB at NPR 45,999 (about $340), and 6GB/256GB at NPR 52,999 (about $390). Converted directly, NPR 39,999 works out to about ₹25,000 (~$263), which would put the Y32 5G up against several established 5G phones in India.
