Popular messaging chat platform, WhatsApp has released a brand new desktop app for Windows that will support an increased number of users on video and audio calls.

It will allow users to host group video calls with up to 8 people and audio calls with up to 32 people. The company says it will continue to increase these limits over time so users can always stay connected with friends, family and work colleagues.

The new desktop app also promises faster load time, improved calling speed and an interface familiar to WhatsApp and Windows users. It also features improvements to the app's multi-device capabilities which include faster device linking and better syncing across devices, as well as new features such as link previews and stickers.

The social media platform also introduced a new WhatsApp beta experience for Android tablets and a new, faster app for Mac desktops – that is currently in the early stages of beta – increasing the portfolio of devices which can support the messaging app with plans to expand this portfolio in the future.
