Nintendo is doubling up on Direct presentations this week, with two showcases scheduled to take place on consecutive days.

The first will celebrate one of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises, with a The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct taking place on September 8. The following day, Nintendo will return with a regular Direct focused on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games arriving this winter.

That gives Nintendo fans two days of announcements, updates, trailers, and potentially a few surprises. Here’s everything you need to know about when to watch both presentations and what to expect.

When Is the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct?

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct takes place on Tuesday, September 8, beginning at:

  • 10:00 AM ET
  • 7:00 AM PT
  • 3:00 PM BST
  • 4:00 PM CEST
  • 9:00 PM WAT (Nigeria)
  • 11:00 PM JST

The presentation is expected to run for approximately 30 minutes. Fans will be able to watch the broadcast live through Nintendo’s official YouTube channel and the Nintendo Today app.

What to Expect From the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct

Nintendo has not revealed exactly what will be shown during the anniversary presentation, but there is plenty for the company to talk about.

The Legend of Zelda series reaches its 40th anniversary in 2026, making this a particularly significant milestone for one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises.

Among the strongest possibilities are:

  • More information about the Ocarina of Time remake
  • A potential Zelda 40th anniversary collection
  • Special-edition Nintendo Switch 2 hardware
  • Anniversary merchandise and accessories
  • Updates on upcoming Zelda projects
  • Potential announcements surrounding the live-action Zelda movie

Recent leaks have also claimed that Nintendo is preparing a special-edition Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and controller, although these reports have not been officially confirmed by Nintendo.

Could We Finally See the Ocarina of Time Remake?

One of the biggest questions heading into the presentation is whether Nintendo will finally show its long-rumoured The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.

Ocarina of Time remains one of the most influential games in Nintendo's history, and a modern remake would be a natural way to celebrate the franchise's 40th anniversary.

If the project is real and Nintendo is ready to reveal it, the anniversary Direct would arguably be the perfect place to do so.

For now, however, fans should treat the remake reports as speculation until Nintendo officially confirms the game.
