Final Fantasy Resonance brings familiar heroes from across the franchise into an HD-2D RPG, but collecting them takes more than progressing through the main story.
Some Visions are hidden in explorable locations, while others require specific side quests or challenging battles.
With 26 Visions to collect, knowing when and where to look can make building your party much easier. Here’s everything to know about the game's release, Vision system and how to unlock every Vision.

When did Final Fantasy Resonance release?
Final Fantasy Resonance launched on October 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Developed by Square Enix and Lancarse, the game combines pixel-art characters with three-dimensional environments in an HD-2D presentation.
The adventure follows Rain and his companions as they journey across Lapis, with familiar elements from the franchise returning alongside heroes from previous Final Fantasy games.
How do Visions work in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Visions are manifestations of memories belonging to heroes from Lapis and other dimensions. Most are returning characters, including Cloud, Lightning, Noctis and Sephiroth, alongside original characters.
Rather than functioning as playable party members, Visions provide additional skills that characters can use in battle. Each character can equip one Vision at a time, although you can change your selection outside combat.
There are five Vision roles:
- Sentinel: Defensive abilities.
- Commando: Offensive attacks.
- Breaker: Abilities for pressuring enemy defences.
- Saboteur: Skills focused on disrupting opponents.
- Medic: Healing and support.
Visions also grant mastery bonuses. Characters earn mastery points by winning battles with a Vision equipped, increasing its Mastery Rank and unlocking additional abilities. Mastery progression is tracked separately for each character.
You can awaken Visions using magicite shards, magicite and magicite crysts to improve their skills.
