Telegram has finally joined the list of applications with an AI chatbot integration, as Microsoft announced that it has added an official Copilot bot within the app, which lets users search, ask questions, and converse with the AI chatbot.

This comes following the recent trend of AI companies making their LLMs available on messaging platforms. Common examples include Meta adding Meta AI to its chat apps (Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram) and Google adding Gemini to Google Messages on Android devices.

Although still in beta, Copilot for Telegram is accessible for free to its 800 million monthly active users across both mobile and desktop.

You can now chat with Copilot on Telegram like a regular conversation on the messaging app, but you should know that it is not yet as efficient as Copilot on other platforms because it cannot generate images yet.

For now, it is restricted to text prompts and can search the internet for information, suggest movies to watch, generate a new workout routine, help with coding tasks, and translate conversations. Other than the image generation constraint, you are most likely going to enjoy the chatbot just as you would on any other platform.

Moving on, there is a daily limit of 30 conversational turns, which means that you and Copilot can only exchange 30 messages back and forth within 24 hours. This limitation was put in place for proper resource allocation while ensuring fair access for all users.

To access the Copilot chatbot on Telegram, simply search for "Microsoft Copilot" via the Telegram search bar, click on the first bot that pops up, and share your Telegram phone number with it and you are good to go. Interestingly, it would be fun to see how AI chatbots are integrated with other applications in the future.
