Starting in September, TikTok will require most of its US employees to return to the office five days a week, ending hybrid work for teams that currently allow staff to work from home at least one day a week, according to three staffers who spoke to Business Insider.

The return-to-office policy, which is to take effect in September, will apply to most US corporate employees across product, marketing, and ad sales, who are currently on hybrid schedules.

This announcement follows an earlier directive from the social media platform. In December, the company told workers across teams such as product, marketing, and ad sales to prepare for a full return to the office in 2026.

For some employees, however, the in- office policy will not change their current routine, as staff working in TikTok Shop, the company’s e-commerce division, have already been coming into the office every day for more than a year.

TikTok Joins Growing Return-to-Office Push

For instance, TikTok rivals like Instagram and Amazon both require many employees to work from the office five days a week. However, not every technology company has followed the same path. Other companies, including YouTube and Patreon, have kept hybrid arrangements that require workers to come in three days a week.
