2026 MTV VMAs Winners Revealed as Taylor Swift Makes VMA History

Taylor Swift added another major record to her career at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.

On Sunday, September 27, she became the most-awarded artist in MTV VMAs history after taking home three awards at the ceremony, which was held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

The event, hosted by Snoop Dogg and broadcast live on CBS and MTV, also saw Madonna take home seven awards, while BTS, LISA and Sienna Spiro were among the other major winners.

Taylor Swift Breaks The VMA Record

Taylor Swift entered the night tied with Beyoncé at 30 VMA wins. Her first award of the evening, the inaugural Artist Director Honors, moved her ahead of Beyoncé and made her the most-awarded artist in the history of the awards. 

The new honour recognises artists whose work behind the camera has expanded music videos and visual storytelling. Swift then added two more trophies. Her video for “Opalite” won Best Direction, while “The Fate of Ophelia” won Video of the Year, giving her 33 career VMA wins.

The singer used her Video of the Year speech to remember Dolly Parton, who died in August at 80. Calling Parton “the ultimate showgirl”, Swift said audiences were “very lucky to share this planet with Dolly Parton for a time”. Swift also used the ceremony to premiere the music video for her new song “Patient Zero”. She directed the video, which stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.

Madonna Dominates The Awards

While Swift made the biggest record of the night, Madonna collected the most trophies, with seven awards in total.
