The Hell Let Loose series is leaving the battlefields of World War II behind and heading into one of the most challenging theatres of modern warfare.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam officially launched yesterday, August 13, bringing the tactical shooter to the Vietnam War with massive 50v50 multiplayer battles, helicopters, river combat, tunnels, dense jungle environments, and six large-scale maps.

The launch has been a strong one by the numbers: the game topped 30,000 concurrent players on Steam within hours of release, and critics have responded well, with an early Metacritic score of 78.

Developed by Expression Games and published by Team17, the standalone sequel is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. But the reception hasn't been uniformly smooth, while professional reviews are largely positive, early user reviews on Steam are rated Mixed, with players citing bugs, VOIP problems, performance issues, and server troubles at launch.

While the Vietnam setting changes plenty, the core philosophy remains familiar: communication, teamwork, and knowing when not to run directly into enemy fire.
