Buying a foldable phone has become less about choosing the phone itself and more about deciding where to buy it.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are now available to buy in several markets, including the US, UK, Australia, and India. But depending on where you place your order, the difference could be hundreds of dollars in trade-in value, gift cards, or bundled accessories.
Some retailers reward customers who don’t have a device to trade in, while others offer their biggest savings only if you’re willing to hand over an older phone. If you’re planning to buy one of Samsung’s latest foldables, here’s what you should know before clicking the checkout button.

Prices start at $1,899 in the US
Samsung’s foldable lineup spans three devices aimed at different buyers.
In the US, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra begins at $2,099, making it Samsung’s most expensive foldable yet. Buyers looking for something smaller can opt for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, which remains the more affordable option in the lineup.
All three devices are now available through Samsung.com, Amazon, and Best Buy after opening for pre-orders on July 22. Samsung says the phones secured 271,000 pre-orders within the first 72 hours, suggesting demand for its latest foldables remains strong.
Samsung offers the biggest trade-in values
If you already own a recent Galaxy device, Samsung’s own store remains one of the most attractive places to buy.
The company is offering up to $1,200 in trade-in credit, particularly for owners of devices such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra or Galaxy Z Fold 7. Even older Galaxy phones can still reduce the purchase price substantially, although trade-in values decline with age.
For buyers without a trade-in, Samsung is offering a $200 Samsung credit that can be used toward accessories or other purchases. It is also bundling additional savings on wearables, including discounts on the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Amazon gives non-trade-in buyers the better deal
If you don’t have an old phone to exchange, Amazon arguably offers the strongest incentive.
