Snapdragon Chips Are Coming to HP's Budget-Friendly Laptops
OmniBook 5 Series HP laptops deliver premium performance and all-day battery life at an affordable price.
Let’s face it, ARM-powered Windows laptops have mostly been a luxury. Until now, if you wanted better battery life and AI features with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, you were stuck paying over $1,000 for something like the HP OmniBook X. That changes with HP's new OmniBook 5 Series, launched at Computex 2025.
These new models bring Snapdragon X and X Plus chips to the masses, starting at $799 for the 14-inch and $849 for the 16-inch versions. This update focuses on balancing mid-range performance with longer battery life and lower pricing, expanding HP’s ARM-based offerings beyond the premium OmniBook X line.
Both models support Microsoft’s Copilot+ features, including tools like Recall, Click-to-Do, and an upgraded Windows Search. While the 5 Series doesn’t offer the same high-end performance as the OmniBook X, it’s equipped to handle common tasks like multitasking, light content creation, and basic AI-powered workflows.

The OmniBook 5 also brings a few practical additions. It comes with a 2K OLED display, up to 34 hours of battery life (on paper), and support for fast charging. HP says you can get up to 50% charge in about 30 minutes. For remote work or online classes, it includes a 1080p IR camera and HP’s Audio Boost 2.0, which uses AI to help with background noise during calls.
You can also hook up an external 5K monitor or dual 4K displays, making this a serious contender for home office or light creative setups.

Compared to rivals like the Acer Swift 14 AI, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, and Asus Vivobook S 15, HP’s OmniBook 5 offers a competitive price point without skimping on the essentials. It’s clear HP is betting big on Snapdragon chips going mainstream, and this move undercuts the premium market while still offering modern AI-powered experiences.
The 14-inch model drops first via Amazon and Microsoft in June, followed by a wider rollout, including Best Buy and Costco, in July. The 16-inch version follows shortly after.
HP isn’t just playing catch-up; it’s pushing ARM-powered laptops into the hands of everyday users. And with AI integration now a key battleground, the OmniBook 5 could be HP’s most strategic launch of the year.
