Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced that Pokémon Pokopia has officially surpassed 5 million copies sold worldwide, marking another major milestone for the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive.
The game reached the impressive figure just over four months after launching on March 5, 2026, with the total combining physical and digital sales globally. That's roughly 21% of Nintendo Switch 2's 23.68 million-unit installed base, making Pokopia the console's second best-selling game, trailing only Mario Kart World's 15 million copies and pulling ahead of Donkey Kong Bananza's 4.78 million.
For a franchise known primarily for catching, training, and battling monsters, Pokémon Pokopia has taken a noticeably different path. Rather than sending players on another traditional Pokémon adventure, the game offers a cozy life simulation experience built around crafting, building, exploration, and creativity.
And judging by its sales, plenty of players have been happy to slow things down.
Pokémon Pokopia Puts Ditto in Charge
Pokémon Pokopia puts players in the role of a rather unusual hero: Ditto.
Using Ditto's transformation abilities and newfound crafting skills, players set out to restore a forgotten and desolate land, gradually turning it into a vibrant Pokémon paradise.
Along the way, players can meet other Pokémon, gather resources, build furniture, prepare food, explore the environment, and work together with Pokémon to create their own cozy utopia.
Nintendo and The Pokémon Company describe the experience as follows: “Pokémon Pokopia is a relaxing life simulation game devoted to crafting and building. Players take on the role of a peculiar Ditto and restore a desolate land using its transformation skills and surprising new crafting abilities. As players cultivate the world’s natural beauty, they’ll encounter more Pokémon to work together with and build their very own cozy utopia.”
