Boasting the biggest human population of any country in the world at almost 1.5 billion, internet connectivity has begun to find its way into the crevasses of its rural centres.
A recent report from the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IMAI) highlights the continuous rise of rural internet users, which initially surpassed those in urban areas in 2021. This surge in accessibility has seen the overall number of active internet users in the country nearing a billion, with rural users in India now accounting for almost half a billion, as of 2023, as seen in the Techloy chart below.
